What I Did This Summer-Part 1

In June, Nik and I went to visit my sister Ruby and her partner MaryAnn in the Tampa area of Florida. The first thing Nik wanted to do when we arrived was going swimming in the condo pool. He had a blast playing with his Aunts.

We went to Busch Gardens our the next day.

The highlight of the day was going on the Safari tour where we got to feed the giraffes.

Nik thought he was too mature to have his picture taken with these Sesame Street icons, but mom insisted.

The next day was Nik first visit to the beach.

That evening we watched the sunset at the hotel across the street from the condo.

Our next trip was to the Clearwater Marina Aquarium, home to Winter the dolphin with the prosthetic tail. Here is Nik with the tail.

Winter lost her tail after she got caught in a rope of a crab trap. The have made a movie about Winter called A Dolphins Tale, that will be coming out in September

After our trip to the aquarium, it was time for another swim.

Then more time in the ocean the next day. We got really sunburn after our first beach day. That pained look on my face was caused by the wave slapping my sun-burned back. OUCH!

After our morning at the beach, we had a great lunch with MaryAnn's dad Carl. Carl was such a fun-loving guy, he and Nik even had a ice creaming eating contest that day.

After lunch we headed to St. John's Pass for some sight-seeing and black light mini golf.

One last sunset that evening before we had to head back home in the morning.

We had a great time and hope to come visit again in a few years.
