15th Layout of 2009-Birthday Party

My sister Mary and I enjoyed a night of scrapbooking last night at Archivers. I completed 13 layouts and will be sharing them all in the coming days.

This one is from Nikolas' birthday party at McDonald's. I didn't have any embellishments planned for this page when I got there. Luckily, I found this great circle motif overlay. Mary gave me some orange brads to mount it to the cardstock.

Favorite Picture for Family Photo Shoot

A little over a week ago we had a family photo shoot with my side of the family. My good friend Cindy's husband came by the house with all his equipment and took some great photos. This one of Nikolas and Chewy is my favorite. We really had a hard time getting both boys to cooperate.

14th layout of 2009-Pretty Boy

I copied the basic design (placement of pictures, title and journaling) from a layout published in the February issue of Creating Keepsakes (page 111), the style of the title came from another layout on page 110, where the artist applied rub-ons to colored paper and then cut them out. I printed out my title using the Warren font, stamped the color over the letters and then cut them out.

I used two pieces of the same pattern paper, but the colors look really washed out on the left page.

13th Layout of 2009-Sun Devotion

All the pattern paper for this layout came from The Pet Stack from Die Cuts With a View. I scraplifted the layout from the cover of Creating Keepsakes' special issue 101 Expert Solutions for Scrapbooking.

12th Layout of 2009-That's What I want for Xmas

I've been preparing pages for an upcoming crop at the end of the month. I started to plan this page and realized that it would be better to complete it now b/c I won't remember exactly how I wanted the pictures to overlap. So this one is out of order chronologically.

I used the last piece of cardstock and pattern paper left from Coordinates Collections' Dec 07 kit Jingle and the letter stickers I just got in the Jan 09 Rumba kit. The ribbon is from my stash. I used my Silhouette to cut an large "O" out of the pattern paper and used both the inner circle and the letter shape.

Seven More Months until I see Mickey!

I can't believe I missed posting these yesterday. Yes, I can because my day was all messed up after they called school due to the freezing temps. Well today, is another "Snow Day", but the cold has been chanting "7 more months until Disney World..."

Here are some more layouts from our 2006 trip. This is Day Three: 10/21, spent at Magic Kingdom.

These first layout was totally scraplifted from some one's layout I found online, I think at 2 Peas.

The titles on the Tomorrowland and Fantasyland layouts were done before I had my Silhouette, so I cut both titles out by hand.

The small world layout was part of a challenge posted on WDW Trivia website--using the lyrics of the song in your layout.

11th Layout of '09-Zoo Trip with Friends

Nikolas has a lot of zoo layouts in his scrapbook. For 2008, if you count the zoo camp layout and the December field trip I haven't scrapbooked yet, there will be 9 layouts in his book.

I used what I had left of the Edgar Allen Poe kit from Coordinates Collections for this layout.

10th Layout of '09-Now You Are 6

7th Layout of 2009-Kindergarten

I finished this layout last night while waiting for my friend Janine to fly in from out of town. All the supplies come from Johnny Appleseed, the September 2008 kit from Coordinates Collections.

The poem was given to us by Nik's teacher at kindergarten orientation the night before school started.

5th Layout of 2009-Rennaissance Faire

Imaginisce pattern paper from the Exotic East collection. Title cut with the Silhouette using the Bradley Gratis font.

Hidden journaling reads: Since you enjoyed the faire so much last year, you asked to go bak this year. You still enjoyed the jousting so much we had to go twice. You picked up some cool knight toys to play with at home. August 10, 2008

New Year's Resolutions

2008 is gone and I am very proud that I have had about a 50% success rate on my resolutions. Here’s how they turned out:

I resolve to take more pictures! This resolution was too vague to truly measure if it was successful. I did try to keep my camera in my purse at all times, which helped.

I resolve to read the Bible in a year. Accomplished!

I resolve to read 12 Newbery Medal winners this year. Accomplished!

I resolve to lose 20 pounds. I lost about 5 pounds since the start of the new year.

Here are my resolutions for 2009:

I resolve to read 12 Children classic literature titles. I bought a copy of The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame last week, so that will be my first selections. Here are the other eleven I plan to read (in no particular order):

Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett
Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe
The Three Musketeers by Alexander Dumas
The Voyages of Doctor Dolittle by Hugh Lofting
The Call of the Wild by Jack London
The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling
The Adventures of Robin Hood by Howard Pyle
Gulliver’s Travels by Jonathan Swift
Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain
Swiss Family Robinson by Johann David Wyss
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne

I resolve to exercise three times a week. I'm hoping that focusing on getting moving will help with the whole weight loss goal. Part of this goal is to start a walking program with Nikolas this spring so we are both conditioned to tackle all the walking at Disney World.

I resolve to get a tattoo. This is one of my "4 before 40"--four things I want to accomplish before I turn 40 in September. I have been talking about getting a butterfly tattoo since before I turned 30, so we will have to wait and see on this one.

I resolve to learn to ice skate. Another "4 before 40" item (the other two are read thru the Bible and lose 20 pounds) and the one I have the least faith in accomplishing. It is the pipe dream of the four.

I also have a challenge for myself. In 2008, I completed 65 scrapbook layouts and three mini books. I hope to meet or exceed that amount in 2009.

2nd & 3rd Layout of 2009

I had wanted to go out to Archivers today and do some scrapbooking, but my hours got changed at work. So I am scrapping at home until I have to get ready to leave for work.

Kiddieland layout: Imaginisce pattern paper and Stampin' Up scallop punch.

SpongeBob Squarepants layout: everything from the SpongeBob kit by Sandylion.

1st Layout of 2009

My first layout of 2009-completed this morning. The coloring on the second scanned page is off. A preschool reunion outing from this summer to Pirates' Cove.

Last Layout of 2008

I did this layout before we went out last night to ring in 2009. Nikolas and his cousin Jordan watching the 4th of July parade that Jordan's brother Ethan got to be part of.

Stampin' Up cardstock, pattern paper and star brads from the Dollar Spot from Target. Letter stickers and letter overlays from Making Memories (which have been in my stash for a long time).
