Earth Day
Nik and I went to see Disneynature earth this afternoon. I do not recommend it for small children, especially animal lovers like my son.
I was encouraged by what I read today on MousePlanet.com: You probably don't need to worry about the "violence," though unless your child is particularly sensitive. While the movie does not shy away from acknowledging that nature is red in tooth and claw, very little of the red is actually shown on screen. Whenever a predator obtains its prey, the camera shyly looks away.
While there wasn't any actual blood and guts, there was still plenty of chasing, take-downs and biting. There are four of these type of scenes in the movie and each one was agony for Nik. My favorite line was when he told me, "This is torture for an animal lover!"
I felt like the worst mom in the world. I'm sure the three ladies sitting directly behind us who had to listen to my boy whimper, must of felt that way. But there was only like 20 people in the whole theater and they had to sit directly behind us, which seems to happen to us when ever we go see a movie.
After the movie, we went to a local wetlands park with gloves and a bag and picked up garbage...a much better way to spend Earth Day.
That is a whistle in Nik's mouth, which he blew every time we found garbage.

Photos and Stories from 4/11-4/18/09
The day before Easter, our church hosted their annual pancake breakfast and Easter egg hunt. All the kids were allowed to collect 30 eggs.
After that, while I was at work, Gary and Nik were very busy finishing this impressive fort...
and coloring eggs.
On Easter morning, Nik quickly found the basket the Easter Bunny hid for him.
Mary's birthday fell on Easter this year, so we had birthday carrot cake for dessert.
This past Thursday, Nikolas came into my studio and wanted to play with my Minnie & Mickey Mouse toys on my desk. I noticed that he was pretending to punch Minnie and told him to stop or I would go in his room and punch his toys. Well, he took immediate action to protect his stuffed animals. Gary helped him make these warning signs.
He even put "barb wire" along his bed rail to keep his buddies safe.
This past Saturday was the T-ball parade. All the teams made banners and walked in the parade.
After the parade they took pictures of each player
and team pictures, too.

4 Months until WDW Vacation
With just over 120 days left until our trip, I'm continuting posting the layout from our October 2006 trip, with more of our Disney MGM Studio visit.
More characters we met:
Some of the best pictures of Nik:
This was my least favorite character meal. They had just started doing it, so perhaps they were still working out the bugs. One of the characters (Goliath) completely missed our table and I had to complain to the Cast Member. We were able to meet him on our way out of the restraurant.
The now retired Stars and Motor Cars parade:
I had some trouble with these white rub-ons.
After the parade, Nik enjoyed his first Mickey Bar.
